My name is Bill Gordon. Why would you rather hire me than someone else? I have experience in commercial and industrial construction supervision and project management. I am a licensed contractor. What this means is that I am familiar with the building trades and building codes. Although a home inspection is not a code inspection, it helps to know if components are installed properly, or in more extreme cases, if work was performed without the benefit of permits and inspections. By staying in touch with local trends and costs, estimates can be generated of possible repair costs. I DO NOT WORK ON HOMES THAT I HAVE INSPECTED—YOUR INSPECTION IS AN INDEPENDENT OBJECTIVE OPINION AS TO THE CONDITION OF THE PROPERTY!I have a degree in Occupational Safety. One of the most important aspects of a home inspection is occupant safety. If safety related items that are hazardous to the occupants are discovered, the owner is notified of the condition so that immediate repairs can be made.In the Trinidad and Raton areas, many older homes are present. Some of the houses have been built 100 years ago or more, which presents a challenge at times. Many imaginative repairs have been found in older houses. Older houses have more charm and character than newer houses. Construction in the old days was done with the materials locally available. Stone foundations are not uncommon in the area. Knob and tube electrical wiring is also common in older houses in the area. I am familiar with older homes as well as new homes.A good home inspector is always learning and improving products and services based on good and standard practices in the industry. Knowledge and experience are tools that the home inspector uses when investigating the systems associated with the house. I am always looking at improving my knowledge base and keeping informed of new building techniques and materials. I use a systems based approach when inspecting a building. I look at the building and how the systems affect the building. The systems and components of the systems are tested and checked for proper operation. Do they work as originally intended? Are there any ADVERSE CONDITIONS with the systems? Are there opportunities for ELECTIVE UPGRADES present with the house? What type of maintenance is needed? These are the types of things you will learn from a home or building inspection performed by Gordon Inspections, LLC.I believe in supporting our community. I am past president and past treasurer of the Trinidad and Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce. |
